Description

Job Summary

To streamline the manufacturing process associated with an established contract manufacturing company that is experiencing rapid growth. We are looking for a Senior Buyer to help with the procurement of electronic components, and inventory management to meet our customer order requirements. The successful candidate will utilize best procurement practices, including managing their supplier to ensure on-time delivery, optimal pricing, lead time reduction/management, cost efficiencies, quality improvement and inventory management. They will help organize and oversee the daily operation of our customer requirements, ensuring maximum efficiency, quality and productivity while minimizing costs, waste and ineffectiveness. The area of responsibility for this roll is very wide and thus requires thorough knowledge of various company processes.

Responsibilities

  • Works with the Supply Chain Manager and Buyer’s to ensure proper planning and procurement of materials to support production schedule and customer requirements.
  • Utilizes the ERP system and/or other planning tools to review inventory levels based on requirements and/or historical trends and proposes new buys and inventory replenishments.
  • Creates purchase orders, reviews open orders, track on-time delivery, expedites with suppliers and/or escalates any critical paths with management.
  • Liaises with Receiving, Warehouse, Shipping, Production, Quality, Engineering and Sales teams to support requirements and avoid line down and missed shipments.
  • Requests quotes and helps negotiate costs and lead times for existing manufacturer parts number.
  • Maintains item master with latest prices and lead times.
  • Works with suppliers on escalations and corrective actions.
  • Works with Finance and suppliers to resolve AP discrepancies.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Requirements:

  • Demonstrate experience as a Sr. Buyer with ability to accept new challenges and responsibilities with little or no supervision.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in Purchasing, electronic components for a contract manufacturing environment.
  • Thoroughly experienced in negotiation of purchase orders to include terms and conditions, freight, expedite fees, and contracts.
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written, assertive.
  • Experienced in international import and export transactions.
  • Ability to review and negotiate contracts for a variety of products and services to obtain the most advantageous cost of ownership for the corporation.

Qualifications

  • Four or more years in a contract manufacturing environment is preferred with Purchasing/Planning experience.
  • Knowledge of the principles, methods an procedures employed in the acquisition of material, supplies, finished goods, equipment and services.
  • Knowledge of order management principles, methods, and procedures.
  • Direct supplier relationship experience.
  • Knowledge of Material Requirements Planning, and Production Scheduling processes and systems.
  • Knowledge of inventory planning, control and analysis processes and techniques.
  • Well-developed written, oral, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient with use of various software and ERP systems applications such as MS Word, Excel, Access, etc.

 Physical Demands:

Lift a minimum of 15 lbs. This position requires walking, standing, sitting, bending, stooping, reaching, pulling, and kneeling.

Other Skills

  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task effectively, strong time management skills required.
  • High Attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and ability to identify and resolve issues is required.
